Boutique Hotel Petuh

A house with a language of its own

Located right in the heart of Flensburg, the Petuh Boutique Hotel is a stylish retreat for anyone who appreciates a personal touch. Housed in a historic building, just 200 meters from the tip of the harbor, Nordic simplicity, clean lines, and thoughtful details come together to create an atmosphere that is serene, sophisticated, and yet relaxed. Twenty rooms across three categories, each individually designed, offer a space to unwind and breathe deeply.

A homemade breakfast awaits you in the morning. Coffee, tea, and water are available free of charge around the clock, and if you’d like, you can help yourself to cold drinks from the Maxibar for a small additional fee. If you’re arriving by car, we recommend reserving a spot in advance in our private parking lot right next to the hotel.

Where the name comes from

The Petuh aunts

The Petuh ladies—cultured middle-class women—shaped the city’s character over 100 years ago. Dressed in their finest, they would meet aboard the excursion steamers to play cards, drink coffee, and chat—in their own dialect: Petuh, a mix of German, Danish, Sønderjysk, and Platt. Many owned season passes, the “Card passe partout,” a term that was too difficult for the North German tongue. “Petuh-Karte” was simpler—hence its name.

The Petuh ladies haven't gone out to sea in a long time, but thanks to them, the region's German-Danish character lives on to this day.

Where we are

Close. Closer. Petuh.

Tucked away in a small side street between the harbor, colorful shopping streets, and old merchant courtyards, you’ll find a place to stay: the Petuh Boutiquehotel. In just a few minutes’ walk, you’ll be at the historic harbor, strolling through the old town with its cafés, boutiques, and hidden courtyards, or soaking up the city’s Nordic character as you walk along the fjord. If you’re heading to the water, Solitüde Beach is just a short walk away. And if you want to venture further out, Denmark and the Baltic Sea coast are within easy reach. So close to everything, yet quiet enough to catch your breath after an eventful day.

Our philosophy

More personal than a luxury hotel

Petuh is a retreat with a point of view. We believe in quality with heart. In warmth without intrusion. In competence that feels effortless. Our aim is that every guest feels exactly right here.

We combine Scandinavian lightness with northern German reliability. Open, attentive, with a personal note. Boutique, to us, is not luxury for its own sake. It is careful detail, clear standards and honest quality.

With only 20 rooms we have the privilege of actually knowing every guest. Responding to each one individually is the standard we live by every day. You see it at the northern German supper, in personal recommendations, and in stays shaped around what our guests actually want.

Petuh should be a place where you feel looked after and inspired at the same time. A house with room for quiet, for cheerfulness and for occasions that matter. In the middle of Flensburg and still entirely yourself. A second home for a while.

We look forward to welcoming you, and to making something special out of your valuable time.

Breakfast at Petuh

The smell of warm croissants

A good day starts with a proper breakfast. We welcome you with a homemade ginger shot and the smell of croissants coming out of the oven.

At Petuh, everything is homemade: sweet and savory spreads, crunchy granola, fruit compote, and much more. The ingredients come from local suppliers. We also offer specialty teas and coffees, as well as fresh egg dishes prepared à la minute, just the way you like them.
